Professional development opportunities: You’re invited!

Dear all:

I am inviting you change makers to join our movement to create joyful and liberated lives in early childhood and organizations. Here are some of our offerings for December, and beyond:

1. Workshops: Identity, Anti-Racism and Belonging (IAR-B) 3-part workshop series

Despite having access to professional development on anti-racism and diversity, equity and inclusion, many early education professionals find that it’s difficult to translate the bigger theoretical concepts into their work with very young children and families. These sessions will give early childhood educators and leaders a comprehensive overview of "the why" and "the how" of creating anti-bias and anti-racist early childhood environments. Workshops are interactive, joyful, supportively challenging, and created with adult learners in mind. This is the first time this workshop series is being offered to individuals (as opposed to organizational partners), so there will be an opportunity to build connections and community with other professionals across the United States.

The first workshop is December 9th, so please register by December 2nd. Group discounts will apply for organizations that register multiple staff.

2. Retreat: Journey to Nia, Centering Black joy and eradicating anti-Black racism

We are hosting the Journey to Nia Winter Retreat which will take place in January 2023. After the very positive feedback from the Summer retreat participants, we are excited to offer this Winter Retreat to new and returning participants. In multiple forums where Journey to Nia content has been shared, it has been noted that very few early education professionals have an opportunity to learn how to center Black joy, create racially responsive environments for Black children.

Register in December to secure your spot.

Thanks to the generosity of Defending the Early Years, there is a sponsorship available for one participant. You can apply to receive this sponsorship and attend the Retreat for free by filling out the application here by December 5, 2022.
